Why I'm standing
Midlothian needs local services that meet the needs of local people. With a growing population, it is vital that people can access local dentists, GPs, police and social services. Only the Liberal Democrats have championed local community services, standing up against the centralising tendencies of the SNP and Conservatives.
As someone who has always been passionate about biodiversity and the environment, I also want to see more done to address congestion and ensure that Midlothian has high quality public transport. However, perhaps most importantly, as a liberal, I want to ensure Britain is a welcoming nation for refugees and those at risk. Over the years I have worked to support refugees and aim to ensure we can reverse the damage done by the Conservatives to Britain’s international reputation.
